Sheriff Toby Wishard
I am Sheriff Toby Wishard. I am a native of Florence and have been a lifelong resident of Codington County. I began my career with the Codington County Sheriff’s Office as a Corrections Officer in the Detention Center in 1996. I then was hired as a Deputy Sheriff where I spent more than ten years in the functions of patrol, investigations and court security, to name a few. In 2006 I was promoted to Chief Deputy and was appointed Sheriff in 2008. I was then elected your Sheriff in the fall of 2008.
I am honored to serve the citizens of Codington County as your Sheriff and I am deeply committed to keeping our communities, families and property safe by providing the best, most professional law enforcement services possible at all times.
The Codington County Sheriff’s Office was established in 1878. The Office is responsible for law enforcement protection to all 700 square miles that make up Codington County, including the communities of Watertown, Florence, Henry, Wallace, Waverly, Kranzburg and South Shore.
